New College Merit Awardee, Guest Lecturers, and U.R.C.A. Conference

  • Congratulations to Anastasiya Titarenko, 2017 Walker County intern – recipient of the Dean’s Award of Merit.
  • The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity conference is recruiting students in the arts & humanities to submit their creative works. The structure for this year’s Creative Showcase is different than how it’s operated in the past – students will be asked to submit their project in four possible categories: applied arts, performing arts, visual arts, and literary arts. Deadline to submit is March 9th!
  • New College is hosting two guest lecturers in March.  Deborah Jermyn will be visiting March 18-24.  Professor Jermyn is Reader in Film and Television at the University of Roehampton (London). She is the editor and author of a number of books on women, feminism and popular culture, including Sex and the City (2009), Prime Suspect (2010), Women, Celebrity and Cultures of Ageing: Freeze Frame(2015) and, most recently, Nancy Meyers (2017).
  • Dr. Jon Hale will be visiting March 26-28.  Dr. Hale is an Associate Professor, College of Charleston and author of The Freedom Schools:  Student Activism in the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.
